Script description
Section titled “Script description”Mandombe, which means “for the Blacks”, is a modern African script which was invented in 1978 by David Wabeladio Payi. It was first developed for writing Kikongo and Lingala, the most important languages of Congo.
This script is not currently recognized by the ISO 15924 standard
, but is included in Writing Systems Technical Resources for research purposes. If you have any information on this script, please add the information to this site. The Script Encoding Initiative is working to support the inclusion of this script in the standard, and contributions here will support their efforts.
